The Institute invites applications from talented and motivated Indian nationals with proven records of independent high-quality research for the positions of Visiting Scientist/Research Associate, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor in Sociology for the Sociological Research Unit at its Giridih branch, Jharkhand.
1. Visiting Scientist/Research Associate
Eligibility Conditions :
Ph.D degree in Sociology
Age :
Preferably below 32 years
Salary :
`35,000-40,000 per month +HRA
2. Assistant Professor
Eligibility Conditions :
a) Ph.D degree in Sociology and strong academic record
b) 3 year’s Post-doctoral Research and/or teaching experience
(relaxable in exceptional cases)
Age :
Preferably below 35 years
Salary :
PB-3 `15,000-39,100 with minimum pay of `30,000 with Grade
Pay of `8,000 + allowances. After completion of 3 years’ service in PB-3 they will be placed in PB-4 `37,400-67,000 with Grade pay of `9,000 + allowances.
3. Associate Professor/Professor
Eligibility Conditions :
a) Ph.D. degree in Sociology and consistently strong academic record
b) For Associate Professor: 6 Years’ research and/or teaching
experience in the post of Assistant Professor;
For Professor: 12 years’ research and teaching experience with 6 years’
in the post of Associate Professor or equivalent( relaxable in
exceptional cases)
Salary :
For Associate Professor: PB-4 `37,400-67,000 with minimum pay `42,800 with Grade pay of `9,500+ allowances.
For Professor PB-4 `37,400-67,000 with minimum pay `48,000
with Grade pay of `10,500.
Candidates for the post of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor will be expected to be able to design and implement independent programmes of research in sociology. The areas of research may include, but need not be restricted to, social conditions and problems of Jharkhand and the Chhota Nagpur region; agrarian and crop systems, including the development of farming practices in the region; and social conditions and problems of Adivasi people and communities.
